A number of astrological lunar constellations (nakshatras) have the symbol of mountain summits, or mountain edges, signifying the uphill tasks that the native must rise up to in this life. Notable among these are ‘Dhanishta’ and ‘Purva Bhadrapada.’

Along with the path that brings the need to uplift oneself, there is an extraordinary strength and ability as well within the individual to bear the weight of responsibility through sheer will, dedication and the inner power to bring balance. There is usually a great emphasis upon mastering a skill during this life, and an individual may dedicate a lifetime towards mastery of a subject, skill or practice.

I recall our conversations with Sri Sathya Sai Baba, back in the day, when he would speak to us of mind over matter. He would speak of “chitta vritti” or the disturbances of the mind, and say to us over and over again, “master the mind, and become a mastermind”.

Each person’s struggle in this life to grow, evolve and ascend the mountain of inner power, to the summit of Mount Meru within, is a unique one. During this journey, there will likely also be difficulties and failings, along with exultations, and yet all the while, the Sun of the Self shines brightly to one who calls with an intensity and devotion that can literally move mountains.
