A Prayer to the Grahas (Planets)

As we go through times of collective shifts, especially when seen astrologically through ‘jyotisha’, it might seem as though we are at the cusp of a great reset that feels inevitable. I take comfort in knowing that there is no merit in fear, for there will always be a new beginning on the other side of upheaval.

Sharing a prayer to the grahas (planets) that I wrote, one that embraces these larger forces rather than fears them,

“Awaken within me Surya, the Sun, light of my intellect, brilliance of the Self,

Summon the tides of Chandra, the Moon, to hold me through the rise and fall of time that I experience as both joy and grief,

Let the brave flames of Mangal, Mars, bring resoluteness to this life and the battles that I must fight,

Allow the patience and deliberation of Shani, Saturn, to make me content with what I can do for now,

Awaken within me the expansiveness of Jupiter, Guru, who opens my vision to the truth that might even be discomforting to know,

Let me be held by the devotion of Venus, Shukra, the kind that Radha had for Krishna, and Arjuna for Keshava,

Grant me the keenness of Mercury, Budha, to know, and learn, and strive for nothing less than a greater wisdom each day.”
