A “Kala Sarpa Yoga” is a celestial formation of planets within a ‘Serpent’ alignment, as noted in Vedic Astrology. This happens when all of the planets are ‘squeezed’ between the nodes of Rahu and Ketu.

We are in the midst of such an event that began in December 2021 and ends in April 2022.
We are currently approaching the peak of this astrological event, occurring primarily in the signs of Capricorn and Aquarius, indicating an involvement of mass institutions, governments, militaries, and intensified Karma or actions on an individual and collective level that have mysterious motivations, and strong consequences.

The energy of the Serpent is held by the form and energy of Lord Shiva. It is significant that Maha Shivarati – the great night of Shiva – occurs today, March 1, 2022, amid the backdrop of an intensified time of global events.

I encourage you to spend at least some time on the night of Maha Shivaratri, in silent meditation, or listening to/reciting the name of Shiva – Mahadeva – one who controls time itself. The chanting of Mantras is known to create coherence within the Self, and offer some support to an ever-evolving stream of collective consciousness.

Meditative practices offered for collective coherence must be innately driven by a spirit of surrender to the Divine, and immersed in faith, love and devotion.

The Mantra “OM Namah Shivaaya” is a powerful one to recite 108 times or more if you are inclined to do so.
Many of the planetary constellations in the zodiac have Lord Shiva as their
over-ruler.

Shiva represents eternal Cosmic Silence, and to know even a moment of Shiva, is to know that which is beyond Time. Shiva is also associated with the energy of dissolution and the creative process that begins a new cycle of growth after dissolution. He leads the seeker through a process of ‘un-learning’ – dispelling falsehoods, and revealing a core of ‘silence’ upon which Shakti creates over and over again in joyous patterns.

I’d like to share two of my musical renditions of powerful Shiva mantras that invoke the energy of Shiva.

The first one is “OM Namah Shivaaya” recited 108 times. The second is the Lingashtakam – Eight Sanskrit Verses that offer invocation and worship of a sacred symbol and representation of Lord Shiva – the Shiva Lingam.
