Dear Soul,

The time around a full moon is especially important from an astrological view. The Moon rules over our mind and emotions, and the brightening of the moon is seen as an opportunity to enliven qualities of grace, beauty, as well as acknowledge the culmination of a cycle of work and sustained effort. It is also a time to deepen one’s meditative practice as the mind is especially powerful and vulnerable during this time.

June 5th, 2020 brings the full moon in Jyeshtha, a lunar placement that gives courage through the powers of the intelligent mind. In ancient Vedic thought, the Moon has a strong connection with Shiva – the deity of Cosmic, Dynamic Silence.

The Shadaakshari (six-syllabled) Mantra “Om Namah Shivaaya” is a powerful meditation mantra. It is an invocation to Shiva, ‘the Auspicious One’. Originally written in the “Shri Rudram”, which is part of the “Krishna Yajurveda” – this mantra is now popular across the world among spiritual communities. Its greatest mysteries are unravelled through invocation individually or in a group.

The Full Moon this month opens us up to moments of creative genius, and yet the journey may seem like an arduous climb. This can be a time to develop skill, to further intellectual pursuit, as well as acknowledge the importance and gifts of solitude.

With love and peace,

Sai Ganesh Nagpal
